There are drive-thru restaurants on just about every corner when you’re looking to grab a quick meal to go.

But you don’t have to limit yourselves to national fast-food chains for a delicious meal in a hurry.

In honor of National Drive-Thru Day today, July 24, here are a few places with drive-thru (or drive-up) service around Dayton you may not know about.

>> It’s also National Tequila Day. Here’s where to get a deal.

>> You can get some of the best Mexican food in Dayton from a drive-thru

Victor’s first three locations, in Dayton, Xenia and Fairborn, opened in former Rally’s restaurants, all of which had been vacant for several years. Those locations are drive-thru and walk-up service only, with no seating. The Huber Heights Victor’s offers counter service, seating for about 35, but has no drive-thru. Springfield’s location is unique, as its the first Victor’s in the region with a drive-thru option, as well as a sit-in dining area.

Don’t forget the red and green sauces!

4. Root beer stands

The Rootbeer Stande (1727 Woodman Drive, Dayton) Root Beer Float: The root beer float. Where do I start. This simple yet elegant example of Midwestern nostalgia has its hooks in me. I both like root beer and ice cream, however, the whole is definitely greater than the sum of it parts. The Rootbeer Stande on Woodman only increases the level of this classic summer beverage. It is the only non-chain location that I know of that still offers car service in the area. With a menu teeming with “deep-fried goodies,” burgers and dogs that all look like they would live up to what you would expect from a drive in restaurant straight out of the '50s. I wouldn’t know though because I have never ordered them. Ever since I was very young, I have never gotten past their namesake, The Root Beer Float, and I am cool with that because it’s delicious.
